The name of my chosen federal legislator is, Ted Cruz, who is the Junior Senator for Texas. Furthermore, Cruz is a American who is part Cuban, Irish and Italian. Also, he is a male, with a strong christian faith. Ted Cruz is part of the republican party so he does not share my preferred party the democrats, he has been in office since Jan, 3 2013. Continuing, two bills that Ted Cruz has sponsored include the S. 2220: National Timing Resilience and Security Act of 2017 and the S. 442: National Aeronautics and Space Administration Transition Authorization Act of 2017. Firstly, the Timing Resilience act has been directed to the Department of Transportation, who will then create a backup timing component for the GPS (Global Positioning System) that will be used in case of a emergency or a corruption. Also, this bill include three conditions, the new approach should lower the usage of the current GPS, guarantee efficient protected timing signals for all people if GPS is corrupted, and be on land created in 2 years with the guarantee of a 20 year usage. Secondly, the National Aeronautics Act calls for a new revolution in space travel, by sending the man to mars with a $19.5 billion authorization. Likewise, this bill carries a few provisions that need to be followed. My chosen interest group is called Americas Voice. Ultimately, their purpose is to provide more civil and political rights for the families of immigrants and take them to the road of citizenship. Some goals of Americas Voice include, protection for workers, equal rights for all and a new immigration system as support. When relating this group to Ted Cruz many similarities are found but also differences. To illustrate, Ted Cruz has been a advocate for legal immigration but not illegal immigration which he does not support. This can be seen as he once tried to add on to the Gang of Eight immigration bill in his way by enforcing more border security, prevent immigrants from gaining welfare or easy visas, and grant better green card opportunities. To contrast, my chosen group would like to condone illegal immigrants and aid them with the process of becoming a citizen. As mentioned, Americas Voice and Ted Cruz have different perspectives on immigration but, they both wish for a form of le gal rights for immigrants such as green cards. Furthermore, my chosen interest group has not approved of Ted Cruz and will probably not do so since they dont share the same beliefs. Not only that, Americas Voice has issued several blogs about Ted Cruz in a negative manner. One blog post recalling to Ted Cruz opinions on immigration him stating attrition through enforcement   and will in no way be approved by Americas Voice. Most likely, Americas Voice role when Ted Cruz was getting elected was just negative press towards him as no articles feature positives of the Senator. Furthemore, the demographics of Texas are slowly changing but for the most part have stayed the same. However, the reason why I believe Ted Cruz was able to win the recent elections was due to the majority of Republicans in Texas. Also, Ted Cruz has a prominent christian belief even having his dad as a pastor and while 77% of Texans are followers of Christianity this could have affected his results as well. In the recent election on Nov, 6 the tables were almost turned by Beto Orourke part of the democratic party, showcasing the changes in Texas politically. Regarding, voter turnout its has always been a low level in Texas specifically and continued to do so. When it comes to race, whites do the most voting at 48% while hispanics follow behind at 34%. Most certainly, Ted Cruz being a incumbent political leader allowed him to gain a advantage, in 2018 he was reelected in the senate and will continue to serve until his term ends. Finally, if I was assumed to be 18 and allowed to vote I would most definitely cast my vote. Mainly, because of Texas low level voter turnout rate, especially in the Hispanic community that already doesnt get represented enough. Essentially, it is crucial for everyone to place their vote to understand everyones point of view. Also, I would not vote for Cruz because of his ideals concerning immigration. Although, I am a strong advocate for space exploration he is offering no benefits to the immigrants already here in America living a honest life. His mindset is not something I can agree on, and I would probably vote for his Democratic opponent. Furthermore, I would do this because my cultural background me being Hispanic,   affects my choice of party since Democrats are known to offer more choices for disadvantaged families and immigrants. All in all, I strongly believe that I will be casting my vote when I am of age since am informed properly of the current state of government rule here in Texas
